Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith (2005) / Keisha Castle-Hughes as Queen Apailana
I was thinking about this girl. She’s got a sadness in her eyes. The kind you only see in a child monarch elected to watch her people’s freedom stripped away. She knows. Heavy is the head and all that. Her costume is a stunning visual. It reminds me of Padme’s costumes in TPM. Obviously. Something about a cycle. Padme carried that weight for most of her life and died from despair. Apailana looks like she already knows what she’s inherited. She’s made up like a ghost. The queen from AOTC, she was also made up like Padme. But she had color, and she was older, and she spoke words of wisdom and encouragement. Apailana is only there for a few shots at the funeral. Maybe that was her funeral too.
